L293 Quadruple Half-H Driver

The L293 is a quadruple high-current half-H driver. It includes four independent output channels. Each channel can control inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, and DC motors. Dual H-bridge configuration is supported for bidirectional motor driving.

The IC operates from a wide supply range. Logic supply ranges from 4.5 V to 7 V. Motor supply can reach up to 36 V. Each channel can source or sink up to 600 mA. Outputs are clamped with diodes to protect against back-EMF.

The device provides independent enable inputs for driver control. Thermal shutdown protection is integrated. The chip suits robotics, automation, and control systems. Direction and speed control are easily implemented using logic inputs.
