Color Sensor Recognition Module TCS3200
The Color Sensor Recognition Module TCS3200 Module is a highly versatile electronic module designed to detect and recognize colors in real-time. Based on the TCS3200 programmable color light-to-frequency converter IC, it converts light intensity into a square-wave output signal that can be easily read by any microcontroller, such as Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi.
The module uses an array of photodiodes, each equipped with red, green, blue, and clear filters, allowing it to sense the intensity of each color component. With its wide detection range and high sensitivity, the TCS3200 is commonly used in robotics, industrial sorting machines, and DIY color recognition projects.
How It Works
The TCS3200 sensor works by filtering incoming light through its photodiode array. Each group of photodiodes is covered with different color filters (red, green, or blue). The sensor measures the light intensity of each primary color and outputs a frequency signal proportional to the detected intensity.
By reading the output frequency with a microcontroller, the ratio of red, green, and blue light can be determined. This enables accurate color recognition, allowing the system to identify the dominant color of an object. The sensor also provides programmable scaling options (2%, 20%, 100%) to adjust sensitivity for different lighting conditions.
