MQ-6 LPG, Propane, and Butane Gas Sensor
The MQ-6 Gas Sensor detects Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Propane, and Butane in the air with high sensitivity and reliability. It uses a Tin Dioxide (SnO₂) sensing layer that changes its electrical conductivity when these gases contact the sensor’s surface.
In clean air, the sensor maintains low conductivity. When LPG or similar gases enter its detection area, the conductivity rises sharply. This change generates an analog signal that you can read directly with a microcontroller such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi, or with dedicated industrial monitoring equipment.
The MQ-6 reacts quickly to gas leaks, allowing you to build responsive safety systems. Its wide detection range supports applications from small kitchen gas leak alarms to large-scale industrial monitoring systems. The stainless steel mesh protects the sensing element from dust, dirt, and physical damage while still allowing gases to pass through efficiently.
With proper integration, you can use the MQ-6 in home safety devices, portable leak detectors, and factory safety systems. The sensor’s compact design, low power consumption, and strong mechanical construction make it a dependable choice for both DIY projects and professional applications.
