4017 IC Flip-Flop Decade Counter/Divider
The CD4017BE functions as a decade counter and provides ten fully decoded outputs. When a clock pulse enters the IC, it advances the active output pin to the next in sequence, starting from Q0 up to Q9. This sequential switching makes it perfect for LED chasers, event counters, and timing circuits.
You can reset the count using the reset input or control the sequence using the clock enable input. The CD4017BE outputs a logic HIGH on one of its ten outputs at a time, depending on the clock count, and the sequence continues until a reset occurs. Its CMOS architecture ensures low power consumption, and its compatibility with both analog and digital systems enables broad integration. You can power the IC with a wide voltage range (3V to 15V), and its output drives standard TTL logic levels, LEDs, or other CMOS inputs directly.
